How to make sweet potatoes fries in the air fryer
Making your own version of healthy fries is not hard at all! In fact, you just need a few ingredients, your handy dandy air fryer, and a few minutes of your time.

Ingredients:
- 2 medium sweet potatoes peeled
- 2 teaspoons olive oil or canola oil
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon paprika
- â…› teaspoon black pepper
- your preferred seasonings or spices
Instructions:
Cut off the skinny ends of your sweet potatoes. Then, cut your sweet potatoes in half lengthwise, then into skinny pieces.
Preheat the air fryer to 380 degrees F for the best results and less cook time. While the air fryer is preheating, you can start seasoning your fries.
In a mixing bowl, put in your sweet potato slices, and mix in a teaspoon of olive oil, along with garlic powder, paprika, salt and pepper.
Toss to coat or use your hands to make sure each fries is coated well.
Place the sweet fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer and make sure to not overcrowd them so they can cook evenly. Cook in batches if necessary.
Shake the basket halfway through cooking and cook for about 10 to 12 minutes or until the fries are crispy and golden.
Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce or as a side dish.
How to cut sweet potato fries
To save yourself from too much cutting, you may want to choose two medium-sized sweet potatoes instead of a really long one. This way, you can just retain the full length of the potato when you cut it into slices.
It is important to note that these fries will shrink once it is cooked so you may want a lengthier size than regular fries when cutting.
The thinner you cut the sweet potatoes, the crispier they will be.
You can also choose to make sweet potato wedges.

You can use frozen sweet potato fries if that is what’s available to you. You can still use this recipe and do the same procedures but you may want to add a few additional minutes to cook. I would recommend an extra 5 minutes in the air fryer to make sure the fries will be crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
You can add more seasonings or flavors to your sweet potato fries – the sky is the limit!
The cooking time will usually depend on how thick your sweet potato fries are and how big your air fryer is. Just to be sure, try to monitor and check your sweet potato fries every few minutes until they are cooked and golden brown.
Once out of the air fryer, keep your sweet potato fries uncovered so that the steam will not soften the fries.
What to serve sweet potato fries with
You can easily eat these crispy sweet potato fries on their own since it is already rich in flavor but if you want a more filling meal, then these fries can be paired with almost any meal as a side dish!
Here are some ideas on what to serve these sweet potato fries with:
- Air Fried Corn on the Cob
- Your favorite dipping sauce (ketchup, ranch, etc.)
- Air fried Pizza
- Vegan burger

- Baked asparagus
- Mac and Cheese
- Lasagna

- And more!
How to store air fryer sweet potato fries
You can store your leftover fries in an airtight container and inside the fridge. They should last for about 3 to 4 days.
To reheat, place the fries into the air fryer at 360 degrees F. You can also choose to put it in a toaster oven for 1 to 2 minutes. I do not recommend reheating in a microwave because the potatoes will turn soft instead of crispy.
Are sweet potatoes in the air fryer healthy?
In general, sweet potatoes are rich in healthy nutrients and vitamins. They are high in fiber and antioxidants as well as Vitamin A and Vitamin C.
Sweet potatoes also have anti-cancer properties and can strengthen your immune function, gut health, brain function, and eye health.
Out of all the ways to make fries, cooking them in an air fryer is the healthiest method of all. Instead of soaking the potato fries in tons of oil, an air fryer uses only very little oil and will depend on air to circulate inside the air fryer. This will make any food and your fries more crispy.
And besides, when you use an air fryer, the preparation time, cooking time, and cleanup time are all reduced greatly!
