Apple chips are a healthy snack that both adults and kids will love and benefit from. Now, I know that to make chips, you will have to fry the apple slices which means you will have to deep fry them in oil which is not healthy at all, right? 

This is where your handy air fryer comes in! Through an air fryer, you can easily make crispy apple chips without needing tons of oil (you will just need a light spray or dab), and you are good to go! A plus here is that cook time is way quicker than using an oven or deep-frying.

Plus, it is a low-calorie snack – perfect for those who are on a strict low-calorie diet! 

Here’s how you can air fry your healthy and delicious apples into tasty and crispy cinnamon apple chips:

Ingredients: 

  • Large sweet apples
  • Ground Cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Sugar if preferred

Instructions:

First off, make sure you thoroughly wash your apples. Most apples are usually either covered in pesticides or have this waxy coating. 

Cut your apples. You can either use a sharp knife or mandolin to cut into thin apple slices. Preferably round slices that are â…› inch thick. 

It is up to you if you want to keep the apple seeds. 

Preheat your air fryer and set the temperature to 390 degrees F.

Put your apple slices in a medium bowl and sprinkle with cinnamon, salt, and/or sugar, then mix. You can also directly rub the cinnamon into the apple slices.

  • Peeling or not peeling the skin of the apple is completely up to you – both are acceptable and safe to do when you make these apple chips.
  • The final color of the apple chips is usually based on the type of apple you use. If it is crispier, the color will be lighter. If it is sweeter, the color will be darker.
  • If you notice that your apples are really moist, you may need to add a little bit of extra cooking time.
  • To make the slicing process very easy, I recommend using a mandoline slicer.
  • Apple chips will crisp more once they cool. If your apple slices do feel not as crisp once you take them out of the air fryer, do not worry, and just lay them out to cool. Make sure they are golden brown though.

You can easily keep your apple chips fresh and consumable in the next few days as long as you keep them stored in an airtight container. You should be able to store and consume them for about 5 to 6 days.

Before storing them, make sure your apple chips cool completely. Otherwise, if they are still warm, they will become less crispy when you store them in an airtight container because of the condensation inside.
