What can you do with cauliflower?

I know some people have a love-hate relationship with vegetables that taste too much like.. well, vegetables. And cauliflower is probably one of those on the top list. However, not everyone knows that cauliflower is actually one of the healthiest foods out there! Cauliflower contains a high amount of fiber which is important for digestive health and may reduce the risk of several chronic diseases. Moreover, cauliflower provides a significant amount of antioxidants that are beneficial for reducing inflammation and protecting against several chronic diseases. And the best part? It is weight loss friendly and very easy to incorporate into your diet or meal plans!

And since cauliflower is rarely the main star of the dish, you may ask yourself about what meals you can do with cauliflower. And it’s a good thing that you can do lots of things with it! You can bake it, roast it, pulverize it, pickle it and deep-fry it to perfection! Here are some examples of dishes you can do with a cauliflower that is not only healthy but extremely delicious!

It is also good to note that when selecting for cauliflowers, you must look for those with thick compact heads of creamy white florets. The leaves surrounding it should be bright green and not showing any signs of wilting. Avoid cauliflower that is blemished or whose florets have started to turn brown, which is a sign that the head is getting old. 

You can also easily store your cauliflowers! But take note that cauliflower should be left unwashed when storing. You can store it in the refrigerator with the stem upside down in an open plastic bag to avoid excess moisture which causes the cauliflower to deteriorate faster. You can store it in the refrigerator for about 5 to 7 days. On the other hand, cooked cauliflower should only be stored for 2 to 3 days in the refrigerator. 

What is the healthiest way to eat cauliflower?

Even the healthiest food will lose its nutrients when cooked wrongly. But in the case of cauliflower, you can cook and eat it in many ways and it will still be healthy! For example, the leaf, stalk, and florets of cauliflower can be eaten raw or cooked. When raw, it is perfect to be an addition to salads. When cooked, cauliflower is a perfect side dish topped with a sauce. Cauliflower can be added to stir-fries, pasta, omelets, soups, and stews! It can also be roasted until crispy and stewed with tomatoes! And in some recipes, cauliflower can be a substitute for broccoli!
