How to trim asparagus
To trim the spears or woody ends of the asparagus, you must first rinse the asparagus under cool water to remove any excess dirt.
Then, trim the spears by cutting off the tough, woody part on the bottom half of the asparagus. You can also easily snap it with your hand.
Toss the ends and you are done!
More tips for the best asparagus in the air fryer
It is really hard to mess up cooking asparagus in air fryer. However, if you want more notes and tips to make sure your air fryer asparagus has the best result (and even more flavor!), then I have listed here some more tips for you.
- For extra flavor, you can add parmesan cheese after you are done air-frying the asparagus.
- I highly recommend fresh asparagus as much as possible and not frozen ones. Frozen asparagus may be more watery and not be as crispy and tender as desired.
- For thin asparagus, you can air fry it for around 3 minutes. For thicker asparagus, you can cook it for 5 to 7 minutes.
- Make sure you place the asparagus in the air fryer in a single layer without overcrowding or overlapping each other so that the asparagus are cooked evenly. Cook in batches if necessary.
- If you want to add more flavor and protein to your asparagus, why not wrap bacon on your asparagus? Just get a bunch of asparagus and bundle them up and wrap them with bacon – and put them in the air fryer!
- Experiment with your seasonings! You can add smoked paprika or red pepper flakes for more spice, and more!
What to serve with air fryer roasted asparagus
You can easily eat these roasted asparagus on its own but they also make an easy side dish and can be paired with a wide variety of foods! With that said, here are some ideas on how you can serve your air-fried roasted asparagus:
- Salmon and asparagus make the perfect pair!
- Toss in a salad
- Serve with steak
- Serve with air fryer buffalo cauliflower
- Serve with air fryer brussels sprouts
- Serve with chicken or any kind of meat
- Serve with scallops
- And more!
How to store air-fried asparagus
If you have any leftover asparagus, you can store your asparagus in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. You could also freeze your cooked asparagus but it may tend to get mushy.
To reheat, just toss them back in the air fryer for a few minutes and their original crispiness will be back easily!
Why use an air fryer?
Air fryers are my new best friend! I love cooking my food in an air fryer because the cooking time is relatively shorter than any cooking method and yet, they turn out as perfectly cooked and as crispy as I want them to be.
And if you are in a real hurry, another good thing about air fryers is that the prep time and cleanup time are also way shorter because you will not be needing to use a lot of cooking equipment – just your air fryer and a few bowls and you are good to go!
But aside from that, foods that are cooked in an air fryer get to retain their health benefits and nutrients because you will not need to use a looot of oil just to get your ingredients cooked! With this, you can be sure that your foods stay low-carb and healthy.
