Instructions:

Before starting, wash your beets well under running water. Make sure your beets are peeled off their skin.

You can use a knife or a peeler to peel the beets and cut them into 1-inch pieces or bite-sized small pieces. Try to make them the same size as possible so that they will all cook evenly at the same time.

Add beets to a large bowl then add the oil and seasonings. Toss and coat the beets well.

Transfer the coated beets to the air fryer basket and place the beets in a single layer – not overlapping each other. Cook in batches if needed.

Set the air fryer to 380 degrees F and the cooking time will be 17 to 20 minutes.

Shake the basket halfway through to cook the beets evenly on all sides.

Check if the beets are already cooked by inserting a fork. If they are still hard, use the air fryer a bit longer.

Once done, serve and enjoy.

More tips on the best air fryer roasted beets

The way to make beets in an air fryer is super easy and straightforward with less than five ingredients! But I have here more pro tips on how you can get the best results for your beets in the air fryer.

  • Before serving, you can sprinkle the top with dried parsley or any of your preferred seasonings. You can also add more salt and pepper to taste.
  • You can also squeeze a few drops of lemon on top for extra flavor.
  •  The cook time is depending on the size of your cut beets so make sure your beets are cut in similar small sizes.
  • I do recommend peeling the beets first before air frying them but there are instances where others leave the skin and remove them after roasting.
  • You can use frozen beats but I would still recommend roasting whole beets that are fresh so that you will get the best results. Frozen ones might give you a soft and rubbery texture.
  • You can preheat your air fryer while preparing the beets.
  • Feel free to use different varieties of beets such as red beets, golden beets, and candy cane beets for a colorful serving packed with different flavors.

How to store roasted beets

If you have any leftover beets, you can easily store them in an airtight container inside the refrigerator for three to four days.

To reheat, just toss them back for a few minutes in the air fryer. You can also arrange them in a single layer in a baking sheet and bake at 375 degrees F for around 10 minutes.

I would not recommend freezing roasted beets because once it is reheated, they might have a soft or rubbery texture as a result.

Are beets in an air fryer healthy?

Generally, there are several nutrients and minerals that are packed in beets. But the question is, how will you retain these health benefits while cooking?

There are several ways where you can cook beets but I highly recommend using an air fryer if you want your meal to remain low-carb and not add unnecessary health risks to your meals (yes, I’m talking about too much cooking oil!).

Instead of relying on so much cooking oil, you will only need a spray or a few drops of oil (or none at all!) in your air fryer and you will just have to wait for the hot air circulating inside to do its thing and cook your food.

Aside from this, the preparation and cleanup time is cut down to a shorter time than usual since you will not be needing a lot of cooking materials! Just a few bowls and your air fryer!
