It is without a doubt that a creamy, tasty lasagna is a comfort food for majority of the people around the world. And if you are craving the hearty comfort of lasagna but are worried about the calorie count, then do not worry because I am here to make your lasagna-eating experience guilt-free!

How to make Weight Watchers Lasagna Recipe

Are you ready to fully enjoy eating a lasagna without worrying about any health implications or guilt? With that said, I have here an easy lasagna healthy recipe that is Weight Watchers Friendly! To make lasagna, you will just need a few ingredients and follow some easy steps! 

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of lean ground beef, turkey, or chicken
  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 6 whole wheat lasagna noodles – uncooked
  • 16 oz of low-fat cottage cheese, drained
  • 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon of minced garlic
  • 1 cup of chopped onions 
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of dried oregano
  • 16 oz low-fat cottage cheese

Instructions: 

Preheat the oven to 375°F.

In a large skillet, cook the meat until it is brown along with the onions, garlic, and dried oregano. Make sure to drain the meat if necessary.

Stir in the crushed tomato and let it simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from the heat. This is your lasagna sauce.

In a baking dish, spread 1/2 cup of the sauce to cover the bottom of the dish evenly. Then, layer 3 of the noodles, 1 cup of cottage cheese, and 1/2 cup of the mozzarella cheese.

Top it off with the last three lasagna noodles and the rest of the sauce mixture. Cover with foil. 

Bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and sprinkle mozzarella cheese at the top. While uncovered, bake for another 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted.

Cool for 5 minutes before serving.

  • I highly recommend using part-skim mozzarella cheese for a more creamy texture without the excess fat! 
  • For the meat, you can also use lean ground turkey or lean ground chicken – they are rich in protein and does not change the taste of the dish. Plus, they are a healthier alternative to traditional high fat meat options. 
  • Feel free to try different cheese according to your preference! You can use parmesan cheese, low fat cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, and more! 
  • You can use spaghetti sauce if you do not have time to make crushed tomatoes. 
  • This recipe can also be done in a slow cooker!
