Easy cookie recipes for kids

Baking is one of the things or activities that you should teach your child while they are still young. Baking or cooking fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity in children. Furthermore, because baking involves some math, students will have the opportunity to improve their counting and measuring abilities. And, because most toddlers are naturally passionate and inquisitive, you’re in luck because you can expect them to be filled with excitement with simple tasks such as stirring, kneading, and even scooping batters and other ingredients.

However, as a parent, you must be responsible for their safety. First and foremost, you must establish some ground rules for your child in the kitchen. For example, only you have access to the knives, buttons, and other items. Second, before your toddler’s excitement gets the best of them, you must read and follow the instructions from beginning to end. As a result, you must plan ahead and set up everything. This means already setting up the ingredients and tools on the counters. If you have any smaller instruments suitable for toddlers, that would be ideal. A small bowl in which kids can stir the ingredients, a child-sized apron, and other items are examples. See also Freezable Meals For Toddlers and easy kid-friendly recipes.

Finally, you must seek a dish that is both simple and child-friendly. Here’s a simple chocolate chip cookie recipe that you and your child can make together:

Ingredients

1 egg

1 3/4 cups flour

125 g butter

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 tsp vanilla essence

Chocolate chips

Salt

Directions

Preheat the oven 180°C and line three trays with baking paper then set aside. In a mixing bowl, cream the butter, sugar, and vanilla then add the egg, flour, and salt, and combine. Stir in the chocolate chips. Roll the dough into teaspoon-sized balls and place them on the trays. Make sure to leave enough room in between cookies to spread as it cooks. Bake for 8 to 12 minutes then leave the cookies on the tray for a few minutes to cool down before removing. Feel free to make your child add other ingredients they want (e.g. chocolate chips, nuts, m&ms, etc). Serve.
