What are Pin Clicks?

Pin Clicks is one of the important metrics in Pinterest Analytics tools. It is the total number of times a user clicks on a Pin to view the full pin or to check more information.

Pin Clicks can be looked at as the number of times users interact with your Pins which increases the total number of engagements and your Pinterest presence. In short, the more Pin Clicks your Pins receive, the more interest and user engagement they generate.

However, it is important to note that Pin Clicks is different from Outbound Clicks (also known as Link Clicks), which are clicks that take users to the website or landing page linked to the Pin.

Are Pin Clicks Important?

Pin Clicks are an important metric found on Pinterest Analytics because they indicate how well Pinterest users are receiving your pins. If a Pin is generating many clicks, it means that Pinterest users are interested enough with your content to know more about it.

This level of engagement can lead to increased visibility and ultimately more traffic to your website.

Here are some key reasons why Pin Clicks are important:

Engagement

When users click on your Pins, it shows that your content is engaging and relevant to them. Engagement is important for building an active and loyal audience on Pinterest. The more people interact with your content, the more likely they are to save it to their boards, share it with others, or return for more in the future.

Pinterest Virality

Pinterest uses its algorithm to determine which content to show in users’ feeds. Pins with higher engagement, including more clicks, are likely to rank higher in search results and feeds. This increased visibility can help you reach more people and grow your audience organically.

Free Website Traffic

If you have a blog or an online business, pin clicks will lead to traffic to your website. Users may click to learn more about your content and then decide to visit your website to learn more or to make a purchase.

This is why creating engaging pins is important: You can attract potential customers and increase your conversions and website traffic without spending a dime on ads.

Audience Insights

Pinterest Analytics allows you to see not only how many people are clicking on your Pins and which your top pins are, but also information about the Pinterest users who are engaging with your content. These insights can help you understand your audience better and tailor your future Pins to their interests and preferences.

According to Pinterest, once you’ve created and published a Pin, Pinterest will show you real-time metrics on that Pin via their Analytics. These real-time metrics are a good way to learn how your Pin is performing right after publishing.

To find your Pin Clicks data, follow these steps:

  1. Log into your Pinterest business account.
  2. Click on the Analytics tab at the top of the page.
  3. From the drop-down menu, select Overview to view a summary of your account’s performance.
  4. Scroll down to the Top Pins section to see the performance of individual Pins, including the number of Pin Clicks.

In addition to Pin Clicks, you will also see other metrics connected to engagement rate such as Impressions, Saves, and Outbound Clicks. You can adjust the date range to see how your Pins have performed over specific periods.

Tips to Increase Pin Clicks

Now that you understand the importance of Pin Clicks, you might now wonder how to improve them. Here are some tips and advice to add to your Pinterest Strategy when creating Pins so that the total number of clicks coming in for your pins will improve:

1. Create High Quality Pins

Pinterest is a visually-driven platform, so high-quality images or videos are a must to include in your pins. Make sure your Pins are bright, clear, and visually appealing. Text overlays can also help grab attention, especially if you’re promoting something specific like a sale or a blog post.

Another tip to note for your Pinterest marketing strategy is to make pins vertical and tall (aspect ratio of 2:3). These tall pins tend to perform better because they take up more space in the feed, making them more noticeable. The recommended dimensions for Pinterest Pins are 1000 x 1500 pixels.

2. Add Keywords

While visuals are essential, don’t underestimate the power of a good title or description. A good title and description on Pinterest must have relevant keywords included. Make sure to use clear, and straight to the point texts to explain what users can expect if they click on your Pin. Include keywords to improve your Pin’s searchability on Pinterest.

3. Add a Call to Action

Encourage Pinterest users to click on your Pins by including a clear call-to-action (CTA) in your image, title, or description. Words like “Learn More,” “Shop Now,” or “Find Out How” can encourage Pinterest users to engage with your Pin.

4. Pin Consistently

Like most social media platforms, Pinterest prefers users who are active and consistent on the platform. Pinning regularly helps you stay visible in users’ feeds and increases the chances of your Pins being clicked. Consider using a scheduling tool like Tailwind to ensure your Pins are posted at the best times.

5. Pin at the Best Times

Once you get to know your community and review your analytics, you will be able to tell the best times to schedule your pins. According to CoSchedule, people who use Pinterest are most likely to go to the website and engage with content posted on the platform between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM. You can read more about this in my article about the best times to post on Pinterest.

6. Keep Track of Trends

Keep an eye on Pinterest Trends and online trends in general to see what’s currently popular on the platform. By aligning your content with trending topics, you increase the chances of your Pins being discovered and clicked by users who are interested in those subjects.

7. Use Pinterest Ads

If you have a marketing budget, you can boost your Pins through Pinterest Ads. Promoted Pins are shown to a larger audience and can help drive more Pin Clicks and engagement.
