What is a typical Mexican dinner?

Depending on which country you are living in and your traditions, meal times will definitely differ per household. But in terms of a typical Mexican dinner, you will notice that they will eat much lighter than usual. The common Mexican eating system starts from the heaviest meal (breakfast) to the lightest meal (dinner). So with this, you will expect a variety of light snack foods instead of a proper meal. But of course, people do still go out to restaurants should they want to dine out. But food stands will usually become busy during dinner time to buy some snacks such as nuts, dried fruits, and packets of crisps.

A typical Mexican dinner will consist of simple dishes or foods such as quesadillas, tortillas, tamales, sweet bread, or tacos. Some can also just opt for a hot drink and some bread.

What’s a good side for tacos?

Tacos are definitely one popular dish that comes to mind when people say “Mexico”. To define, a taco is a traditional Mexican dish which is an ear of small hand-sized corn or wheat tortilla that is folded and topped with fillings. This dish can be eaten by itself but having the perfect side dishes can enhance the flavor and eating experience. So if you are up for a Taco Tuesday (or any day!), here are the most common and perfect side dishes for tacos

  • Guacamole
  • Refried beans
  • veggie salad
  • Corn on the Cob
  • Salsa
  • Enchilada
