25. Potato Chip Frittata

On days when the idea of attentively cooking an omelet seems too demanding, we often turn to the trusty frittata. It’s become a go-to in our brunch recipe collection, thanks to its simplicity, flexibility, and the surprisingly tasty leftovers it yields. While we typically fill frittatas with whatever vegetables we have, we decided to give this one a deliciously salty and savory edge – because who wouldn’t appreciate chips in their breakfast?

For an added texture, this baked egg creation is packed with potato chips. We chose sour cream & onion chips, but you’re welcome to use your favorite variety! To elevate it further, garnish with chives, a dollop of sour cream, and a handful of extra chips. This isn’t just any breakfast; it’s a gourmet morning treat.

Tried making it? We’d love to hear how it turned out! Share your experience in the comments section below!

24. Eggs Benedict with Hollandaise Sauce

Eggs Benedict holds the title of my most cherished breakfast dish, and it’s surprisingly simple to recreate at home! The recipe begins with a golden-toasted English muffin, layered with a slice or two of Canadian bacon, topped with a perfectly poached egg, and generously draped in the classic Eggs Benedict sauce, known as hollandaise.

Usually, when dining out, my husband finds it challenging to predict my order due to my varied tastes. However, breakfast or brunch outings are an exception. I invariably opt for Eggs Benedict. No other menu item ever seems quite as enticing! While the traditional version of Eggs Benedict is a perennial favorite, I also enjoy its different variations, like incorporating asparagus into the dish.

23. Carrot Cake Trifle

Delight a large group with this carrot cake trifle! Prepare this layered dessert in individual mason jars or a grand trifle dish. It’s simple to make, irresistibly creamy, and utterly scrumptious.

Trifles are some of the most visually appealing desserts, aren’t they? The interplay of different layers, all beautifully showcased in elegant glassware, is always a sight to behold.

This carrot cake trifle recipe has been a beloved choice for us for many years. Not only is it convenient and straightforward to put together, but it also boasts an attractive presentation that’s sure to enhance the look of your Easter dinner spread.

22. Ham, Egg, and Cheese Breakfast Casserole

I must admit, I have a penchant for ham, even over the traditional Thanksgiving turkey. That’s why, in addition to the turkey feast with extended family, I always make sure to cook a ham at my home too. The aftermath is delightful – we enjoy ham for days on end without ever tiring of it. My top pick for repurposing leftover ham is in a Ham, Egg, and Cheese Breakfast Casserole. It’s a variant of my go-to Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Breakfast Casserole, but ham takes it to another level. You could say ham is my thing.

My ham cooking journey started after I got married. I had never prepared ham before, but was eager to give it a try for our first Christmas together. My granny-in-law provided a recipe that involved meticulous timing, basting, and carving. While the outcome was succulent and flavorful, I was set on finding a more straightforward approach. That’s when I discovered the wonder of spiral sliced ham with glaze packets, and it’s been my go-to ever since.

This year, while selecting our ham at Walmart, I chose a Hormel Cure 81 bone-in ham with Cherrywood flavor. This premium ham exceeded my expectations with its rich flavor, juicy texture, and ease of slicing right off the bone. It cooks up like a dream, and the honey glaze mix complements it perfectly. The best part? It’s incredibly easy to prepare!

21. Orange Muffins

I’ve received quite a few inquiries about my photography journey. Initially, I struggled with the quality of my photos, often envying the stunning pictures taken by others and clueless about how to replicate such ambiance. Despite reading countless techniques online and in books, applying them was challenging. The process of shooting and editing was time-consuming and stirred mixed feelings in me.

However, my affection for photography eventually triumphed. As I gradually grasped the concepts, it blossomed into a significant passion. I’ve been noting down various tricks and tips I’ve picked up, hoping to share them with you someday. For now, the most genuine advice I can offer is the importance of consistent practice, even though it might sound cliché. Try recreating photos you admire, experiment with shooting at different locations and times in your home to understand lighting better. This practice will also help you carve out your unique style and niche.

Having grasped the basics of food photography, I recently decided to elevate my skills by enrolling in a short photography workshop. Apart from the learning opportunity, the prospect of meeting fellow food bloggers and photographers thrills me just as much. I’ll share more about this experience once the workshop begins.

As for my love of muffins, their simplicity and compatibility with my coffee at any time of the day make them a favorite. This recipe employs the muffin method: mixing dry ingredients in one bowl and wet ingredients in another, then combining them. Minimal mixing is key to ensuring a tender, bread-like texture.

Initially, the muffins exhibit a mild orange flavor, which intensifies after a few hours or overnight. Given the subtle orange base, they pair well with a variety of add-ins like chocolate chips, blueberries, cranberries, raspberries, raisins, or nuts.

The recipe allows for flexibility in ingredients. Sour cream can be substituted with plain yogurt, or you can use buttermilk instead of sour cream and milk. For a more pronounced orange taste, adjust the orange juice and dairy ratios. While butter adds a distinct flavor, using oil makes the muffins moister and extends their freshness. I’ve noticed that muffins made with oil remain fresh for a day longer.

Occasionally, I top the muffins with a white sugary glaze enriched with orange flavor. Although it’s not included this time, it’s mentioned in the recipe and is definitely worth trying. It’s a small addition that enhances something already delightful.

20. Hot Cross Buns – Vintage Pastry!

Whip up a batch of soft, aromatic, homemade Hot Cross Buns with this easy recipe, complete with a helpful how-to video and some clever, effective tips. You’ll be surprised at how simple it is to create these treats. Plus, there’s a bonus: a no-knead version, arguably the simplest hot cross buns recipe around!

Creating big, fluffy, bakery-style Hot Cross Buns at home is more straightforward than you might think, particularly if you have a stand mixer. The process becomes a simple dump-and-mix task to prepare the dough, which is my favorite approach!

These homemade Hot Cross Buns surpass the typical, store-bought varieties that often contain preservatives and an artificial taste. Once you’ve experienced the homemade version, there’s no going back – I know I haven’t!

The ingredients for homemade Hot Cross Buns are versatile. You can use any type of yeast you have on hand – rapid rise, instant, active dry, or even fresh yeast. The recipe includes directions for all types of yeast.

19. Blueberry Buckle

Indulge in a Blueberry Buckle, a wonderfully moist cake delicately flavored with lemon, brimming with fresh blueberries, and crowned with a sweet, buttery streusel topping. This classic recipe is a delightful companion for coffee, tea, or as a dessert option.

So, what exactly is a buckle? In traditional baking, a buckle consists of a cake-like batter, crowned with fruit. As it bakes, the cake envelops the fruit, creating a unique ‘buckled’ appearance.

This Blueberry Buckle recipe reminds me of a coffee cake dessert my grandmother used to make, known for its sweet, moist texture and a crumbly streusel finish. It’s surprisingly easy to make, and the results are nothing short of spectacular. The process is straightforward, starting with creaming together sugar, butter, and egg, followed by alternating additions of dry ingredients and milk.

Blueberries are a fantastic choice for summer desserts, maintaining their integrity in baked goods like muffins and quick breads. The addition of a bright lemon zest elevates this blueberry dessert, adding a refreshing twist. When zesting a lemon, it’s crucial to grate only the outer yellow layer, avoiding the bitter white pith underneath. Using a microplane grater or a zester maximizes the zest you get from each lemon.

The zesty lemon flavor is then mixed into the batter, along with gently folded in fresh blueberries, before spreading the mixture into a prepared baking pan.

18. Cracker Barrel Biscuits

Bring the iconic taste of Cracker Barrel’s biscuits to your kitchen with this recipe!

Once a frequent diner at restaurants, I relished the convenience of not having to cook or clean. However, as time has passed, the charm of pricey meals has faded for me.

This change of heart came when I discovered the joy of recreating my favorite restaurant dishes at home. And often, I find that my homemade versions surpass the original, which is certainly true for these Cracker Barrel-style biscuits.

Imagine indulging in buttery, flaky biscuits from Cracker Barrel while lounging in your pajamas at home.

Once you try this recipe, you might question the need to dine out for these delights again.

The recipe is stunningly straightforward, requiring only four ingredients. Bisquick ensures the biscuits have the perfect balance of fluffiness and flakiness, while buttermilk brings in a delightful tangy note.

In under 30 minutes, you’ll be savoring freshly baked, irresistible biscuits right from your oven.

I prefer to keep my quiche recipes straightforward and love to pair them with some fresh fruit or a crisp salad for a complete meal.

While there are countless ways to customize a quiche, I’ve opted for simplicity in this recipe. We start with a pre-made pie crust from the refrigerated section, loaded with all the delicious ingredients. You can choose a frozen crust already set in a disposable pan for an even easier approach, but I like to roll out the crust and bake it in one of my pie plates. It adds a personal touch and keeps our little time-saving secret under wraps!
