Is Pinterest Good For Real Estate?
As a real estate agent, you will need to find a platform where the majority of users are interested in homes and interior design. Furthermore, your target audience will most likely be homeowners or potential homeowners. And this is why Pinterest is the perfect social media platform for you.
Pinterest has over 465 million monthly users to find inspiration, ideas, and to find their next purchase. This means that the majority of the users on Pinterest have the intention to purchase. Furthermore, 31% of millennials in the UK with a household income of over £100K are on Pinterest.
So, if you are looking for homeowners or potential home buyers, then the Pinterest Real Estate niche is waiting for you.
Benefits of Pinterest Marketing to Real Estate Business
How exactly will Pinterest help in promoting your real estate business? Is it worth adding Pinterest real estate marketing to your marketing strategy? My answer to that is an absolute yes. When it comes to social media marketing for your business, Pinterest would be your best choice.
With that in mind, I have here the top 5 benefits of using Pinterest for your real estate digital marketing promotions:

Visual Showcase
As you can already tell, Pinterest is a highly visual platform which makes it an ideal place to showcase the homes and properties you have for sale. All you need to do to start selling homes or posting homebuying content is by uploading high-quality images and videos of your real estate listings and just wait for potential buyers to see and even interact with the properties.
Targeted Audience
What I like about Pinterest is that you can reach active Pinterest users really quickly and easily with or without using ads! You just need to add specific keywords to your pins (I will talk more about this later in the post), add categories or topics to your ads, and you can reach potential clients who are looking to buy a home or even just real estate articles.
Link to Your Website
Another great thing about Pinterest is that the pins you upload can be linked directly to your website or to a specific property listing which saves potential customers from going through the hassle of looking for your website and a specific property. Adding links to your pins is a great way to drive traffic to your website and get leads and conversions!
SEO Benefits
Did you know that you can appear on the Google search results through Pinterest? Aside from being a social network, Pinterest is actually a search engine itself. This means that if your pins, Pinterest profile, and Pinterest boards are well optimized with keywords, your account can appear in the Google search results!
This can greatly help your real estate business gain additional traffic and online visibility.

How to use Pinterest for Real Estate Agents
Pinterest is a great place for Real estate groups and companies to promote their listings and websites. With that in mind, I have here several Pinterest for Real estate tips and real estate marketing ideas on Pinterest.
Step 1: Create a Pinterest Business Account
You will have to start by creating a business account on Pinterest rather than a personal account. There are way more benefits and features a Pinterest business account has rather than a personal business account such as Pinterest analytics, Pinterest ads, and more!
You can create your Pinterest account on both desktop and mobile. Here is how you can create a Pinterest business account:
- From the top-right of your screen, click Sign up
- Click Create a business account
- Enter your Email, Create a password, and enter your Age
- Click Create account
- Fill out the fields to Build your profile, then click Next
- Fill out the fields to Describe your business, then click Next
- Select if you want to run ads, then click Next
- Select where you’d like to start or click the x icon to go to your new Pinterest business account
If you already have an existing Pinterest account that is not a business account, here is how you can convert your personal account to a business account:
- Log into your personal Pinterest account
- Click the directional arrow down icon at the top-right corner
- Click Settings
- Click Account Management at the left of the screen
- Find the Convert to a business account option, then click Convert account
- Click Convert account
- Fill out the fields to Build your profile, then click Next
- Fill out the fields to Describe your business, then click Next
- Select if you want to run ads, then click Next
- Select where you’d like to start or click the x icon to go to your converted Pinterest business account
Step 2: Optimize Your Pinterest Profile
After creating your account, it is now time to complete and setup your Pinterest profile with a professional photo, a brief but descriptive bio, a Pinterest name, and a link to your real estate website. You will also want to set up a Pinterest banner since it is one of the main things users will see once they visit your profile.
I also recommend adding keywords like “real estate” to your Pinterest name and bio. This is so you can also appear on search results when Pinterest users search for those specific keywords.
Here is an example of how my Pinterest account looks:

Step 3: Create Pinterest Boards
It is now time to start adding content to your Pinterest account. I would start by creating several boards that show different aspects or categories in the real estate niche. Some name ideas about real estate Pinterest boards can be “Luxury Homes”, “Best Real Estate Homes”, “Homebuyer Tips”, and more!
You can also treat Pinterest boards as your catalog for your listings that you can show to your clients. And do not worry if you do not have enough content or pins to upload, you can start filling up your boards by repinning other users’ pins.
You can also join Pinterest group boards for collaborations with other real estate agents on Pinterest!
Step 4: Create High-Quality Pins
And now for the fun and most important part: creating and uploading pins! Pinning high quality images and videos of your property listings and website content is one of the most crucial things you must focus on when for your Pinterest strategy and Pinterest success.
You have to remember that Pinterest is a highly visual platform so pins that are visually attractive and aesthetic will be sure to catch each user’s attention. When creating pins, I recommend creating vertical pins with a 1:2 ratio (preferably 1000×2000 pixels), and make sure you use bright images with bold texts if you are going to put text overlays in them.
If you have trouble creating pins from scratch, I have here 20 Pinterest templates you can use in Canva!
Step 5: Add keywords everywhere
Before uploading your pins, make sure that you have added the necessary relevant keywords to the pin title and pin description. Make sure you always have “real estate” in everything. This is for Pinterest users to be able to see your pins whenever they search for those specific keywords.
Step 6: Add your link
Make sure that your pin links back to your real estate website or that specific property listing so that whenever Pinterest users click on your pin, they will be redirected to your website. This makes it easier for your website to get traffic and potential customers and clients!
Step 7: Use Pinterest analytics
Make sure you check back to your Pinterest Analytics regularly or monthly so that you can track the performance of your pins and boards. The Pinterest Analytics features show you everything you need: from your top pins to your best pins in terms of engagements, clicks, etc. This is a great way for you to make changes to your marketing strategy.

Step 8: Set up a Pinning Schedule
Once you have gotten into the groove of creating and uploading pins, it is then time to make yourself a pinning schedule so you can become consistent. Remember that Pinterest favors active users who pin daily.
When you are first starting out, I recommend uploading 10 pins a day. But do not worry if you realistically can’t create 10 pins a day. You can count repins on it! So you can create 1-3 pins a day then the rest will be repins from other Pinterest users.
