- Better Algorithm Recommendations: Following users helps Pinterest understand your tastes better which will make the platform suggest similar creators or individual pins you might like.
How to follow people on Pinterest
When you follow someone on Pinterest, you are up to see their Pins (content) in your home feed. Following a user, board, or topic means Pinterest will prioritize showing you new pins and content from your following list. Here is a step-by-step guide on how you can follow the right people on Pinterest:
Step 1: Log In to Your Pinterest Account
- Open Pinterest on your computer or mobile device and log in using your email, Google, or Facebook account.
Step 2: Find the User or Board You Want to Follow
- You can search for the person or board you want to follow using the search bar at the top of the page. Type in the person’s name, username, or a relevant keyword to see them in the search results.
- If you find a Pin from someone you like, you can also click on their profile to view their full page.
- You can also look at who other people are following by clicking the Following button on a user’s profile. You will see the list of Pinterest users who are currently following with similar interests.
Step 3: Click the “Follow” Button
- Once you’re on the person’s profile or board, you’ll see a “Follow” button. It is usually located below their Pinterest bio and profile name.
- Click the “Follow” button, and that’s it! You’ll now start seeing quality content from that user or board in your feed.
Step 4: Follow Multiple Boards
- If the user has several boards or a specific board that interest you, you can follow each board individually by clicking on the Follow button on the three buttons next to the board titles.
Step 5: Check Your Following List
- To view all the people and boards you’re following, go to your profile and click on the “Following” tab. This list shows everyone you’ve followed on Pinterest.
You can easily check who you are following and your Pinterest followers by visiting your profile. From your Pinterest profile, you can click on the “Following” tab to view a complete list of users and boards you’re following. How to find people to follow on Pinterest
Pinterest makes it easy to find new people, brands, or boards to follow. Here are a few ways to discover accounts with great content:
1. Using the Search Bar
You can search for users, specific topics, or boards using the Pinterest search bar. Just type in what you’re interested in (e.g., “Pinterest marketing” “home decor,” or “fashion tips”), and Pinterest will show a mix of Pins, profiles, and boards that match.
2. Browsing Categories
Pinterest organizes content into categories like fashion, art, home, or food. Browsing through these categories can help you discover popular creators and popular pins in those topics.
Once you find a Pin you like, you can click on their Pinterest page to see their full account and follow them if they have original content that you enjoy.
3. Recommendations in Your Feed
As you interact with content, Pinterest will recommend accounts and boards for you to follow. These suggestions appear in your home feed or when you click on certain Pins.
4. Pinterest’s Suggested Users
Pinterest often recommends users or boards based on the engagement you do on the platform on a regular basis and the Pins you’ve saved. These suggestions appear in your home feed, or in the “Follow” section of the app or website.
Other Things to Follow on Pinterest
Aside from other Pinterest users, another great way to follow new content on the platform is through the following methods:
1. Pinterest Boards
Instead of following a whole user account, you can choose to follow specific boards created by users. Pinterest Boards are collections of Pins organized around a specific topic. For example, someone might have separate boards for “Fashion tips,” “Healthy Recipes,” and “Travel Ideas.” You can follow just the boards that interest you without having to follow a user.
You can follow individual boards by clicking the three dots next to the board title and clicking Follow.
2. Topics
Pinterest allows users to follow topics, which are categories of content based on general interests. When you follow a topic, Pinterest will show you Pins related to that topic, even if you are not following the users who posted them. Popular topics include things like “Recipes,” “Photography,” “Home Decor,” and more.
3. Trends
Pinterest has a Pinterest Trends section that showcases what’s popular or going viral on the platform. By following these trends, you can keep up with the latest ideas and styles that are currently trending online.
How to get more followers on Pinterest
Now, how do you get your own Pinterest followers? If you are curious, then I have here some best practices you can add to your Pinterest marketing strategy to grow your follower count quickly!
1. Complete your Pinterest Profile
The first step to gaining followers is to have a complete and interesting Pinterest profile. Your profile is the first thing people see, so you want it to represent you and your brand well.
- Profile Picture: Use a clear and high-quality profile picture. If you’re using Pinterest for personal use, it can be a photo of you. If you’re using it for business, consider using your logo or a professional image.
- Bio: Write a short but informative bio. Use keywords that describe what your Pinterest account is about.
- Website Link: If you have a blog or an online business website, make sure to add your website link. This helps followers learn more about you or your brand – and you get free traffic!
2. Create High-Quality Pins
Amazing content is key to attracting new Pinterest followers. People are more likely to follow you if your Pins look good and offer valuable ideas or inspiration.
- Vertical Images: Pinterest is designed for vertical images since these can easily catch the attention of users. The recommended image size is 1000×1500 pixels. Make sure your Pins are clear, high-quality, and follow this size format.

Make sure to add relevant keywords everywhere you can – on your Pinterest bio, Pin titles, Pin descriptions, and board descriptions.

4. Join Group Boards
Group boards are boards where multiple users can add Pins. Joining these boards helps you reach a wider audience because your Pins are shared with all of the board’s followers.
Search for group boards that are related to your niche. For example, if you post about recipes, find group boards for healthy recipes and such.
Once you join a group board, make sure that you only post high-quality Pins to the board to avoid getting kicked out as a collaborator.
5. Invite People to Follow You
- Log in to your Pinterest account
- Click your profile photo at the top-right corner to open your profile
- Click Share
- Click Copy link to copy your invite link and share it with your friends
