What is the most popular Christmas candy?

Who doesn’t want their fair share of candies? Once Halloween is over, you may think that the candy craze is finally over too. But you must not forget that Christmas is all about festive candies and treats as well! What’s different about Christmas candies is you will see tons of Christmas-themed packaging and colors which ultimately feels as if Christmas is already here. Ranging from chocolate wrapped Santas to the traditional red and white and candy canes, here are some of the most popular and well-loved Christmas candies and treats of all time:

  • Candy canes – You will never NOT see candy canes once December comes. Candy canes are so versatile that they can be hung on your Christmas trees or an extra festive display on your dining table.
  • Chocolate Santa – Chocolate Santas are perfect to add for Christmas gifts or stocking stuffer! They are usually plain milk or dark chocolate and are shaped to look like Santa Claus.
  • Gingerbread – Along with candy canes and chocolate Santas, gingerbreads are also one of the most popular and traditional holiday candy that you will see everywhere. What’s more is that you can build your own gingerbread house which is a well-known Christmas tradition.
  • Hershey’s Kisses – Hershey’s Kisses also go on-theme once December arrives! These little, delicious chocolates are perfect for stocking stuffer or gifts!
  • Peppermint bark – Peppermint bark pieces embody the two Christmas flavors: chocolate and peppermint!
  • Reindeer corn – Yes, reindeer corn exists! They are covered with Christmas colors and are created to look like corn kernel pieces.
  • Butter toffee – You will also see butter toffees on some families’ tables which ranges from fudge to bite-sized pieces.
  • Truffles – Truffles are definitely a guest-favorite when it comes to Christmas parties and get-togethers!

How long does homemade Christmas candy last?

So you probably made tons and tons of candies that you have now quite a lot of leftover. And instead of throwing everything away, did you know you can still store your homemade Christmas candies? Homemade candies can actually last for about 2 to 3 weeks if you store it properly. You must store your homemade Christmas candies in an airtight container and store it in a cool, dry place. Fudge and caramels can be wrapped tightly and frozen for up to 1 year. You must also store your truffles by wrapping them individually in clear plastic wrap.

It’s also best to avoid storing different types of candy together in the same together because hard candies will eventually become soft and sticky, and the soft candies will dry out.

And when removing candy from the freezer, allow it to come to room temperature for about 2 to 3 hours before opening. This can prevent the moisture from collecting on the surface of the candy which can cause white or gray speckles and streaks.

What can I do with leftover Christmas candy?

Throwing away your leftover Christmas candies should be the last option you will think of. There are several ways wherein you can make your leftover Christmas candies even more delicious and creative! First, you can cook or bake your Christmas candies into a tasty, sweet, baked goods. A macaron, perhaps? Next, you can craft your Christmas candies and make a tower or another gingerbread house made of candies!

Quick and easy candy recipes

Instead of going out to buy some festive holiday candies, why not bring the family in together to make your own Christmas treats? Here are quick and easy Christmas candy recipes you and your family will love!

31. Old-Fashioned Pecan Logs

Luxuriously rich, with a nutty bite, a chewy texture, and a sweet creamy finish – these are some of the flavor profiles that emerged from the creation of our Pecan Logs recipe. These retro candies, brought into popularity by the Southern-beloved convenience store Stuckey’s—might seem complex, but in reality, aside from the initial setup, they’re quite simple to assemble. This simplicity is largely due to the use of melted caramel candies as a stand-in for homemade caramel. It’s worth noting that you should let the nougat cool just enough to handle it. Over-chilling can make it challenging to shape into logs. With each batch yielding a generous 32 servings, these make an ideal treat for gifting to hosts or distributing as holiday tokens for colleagues, teachers, and neighbors. To add a visually appealing touch laced with a dash of the nostalgia we’re so fond of, arrange slices of the log on a dessert tray for your holiday spread this season.

30. Toffee Holiday Candy

We’ve experimented with numerous toffee candy recipes, but this one, crafted by the immensely gifted and much-admired Culinary Studio Expert Pam Lolley, is truly the best we’ve ever stumbled upon. This recipe is simple yet includes considerate touches such as the inclusion of instant coffee granules and a small amount of cinnamon for an extra punch and a complex taste profile. The recipe calls for molasses, light brown sugar, alongside both almonds and semi-sweet chocolate chips, creating a mouth-watering blend that urges you to slot it into your baking agenda this weekend. With this recipe, a shortlist of 10 ingredients brings you to the most delightful toffee you’ve ever tasted, and chances are, most of these ingredients are already in your pantry. (One of the ingredients is water, so you’ve made a start already.) Our culinary team assures “a rich, crunchy toffee blanketed by a silky, robust dark chocolate and almonds—it’s a candy paradise!” They also suggest having a candy thermometer at your disposal, as “hitting the 290° mark ensures the optimal consistency.” The hands-on time for this recipe is a mere 25 minutes, with a total of 65 minutes—surely, that’s a reasonable wait for an excellent toffee, wouldn’t you agree? So, why the delay? We hope you relish it! (On deck, explore our guidelines for flawless pralines.)
